A device is missing or shows no data
Two different problems, two different paths: “doesn't show up at all” vs. “it's there, but silent.”
Case A: The device doesn't show up in Franzl at all
Franzl finds devices two ways: through Home Assistant and directly on the network:
- Is the device set up in Home Assistant? Settings → Devices & Services. If it's missing there, set up the manufacturer integration first: Home Assistant usually suggests devices it finds on its own. Which integration your model needs is listed on its device page.
- Search in the Franzl app: Devices → Add starts a new scan and also shows half-finished setups in Home Assistant that are just one click away from working.
- Direct connection (without Home Assistant): Franzl connects some devices directly via their IP address (e.g. go-e, KEBA, Kostal, SMA, Sonnen). In the app: Devices → open the device in question → "Search on network", or enter the IP address and tap Make controllable.
Case B: The device is there, but shows a dash or is offline
That dash is intentional in Franzl: no reading is shown as no reading, never as zero. Causes, in order:
- Is Home Assistant getting the value at all? Open the device's entity in Home Assistant (search for the device name). If it says "unavailable", the problem sits between Home Assistant and the device: usually the network, a powered-off device, or the integration needs a reload (Settings → Devices & Services → integration → ⋮ → Reload).
- Does the device have a new IP? → See this page.
- Does the model need an unlock step? Some devices only start delivering data once a local interface is enabled (e.g. "Modbus TCP" on the inverter). The exact step for your model is on the device page.
Good to know: If a grid meter drops out for a while while the wallbox is set to charge on solar surplus, Franzl pauses charging ("grid meter not responding") and sends you a notification. That's not a bug, it's caution: without a meter, surplus can't be proven.
Your model has its own page with setup steps, including the exact step you need.
