How it connects

Franzl reads this device through the Home Assistant integration tasmota. If your device is already set up there, Franzl finds it automatically.

Setup

The connection runs through the Home Assistant integration tasmota: locally via MQTT, with no cloud involved. The plug announces itself (push instead of polling) as soon as it appears on the MQTT network.

Requirements

An MQTT broker on the network (e.g. the Mosquitto add-on in Home Assistant)
Tasmota firmware ≥ 9.2 with native discovery enabled
Tip: energy metering on cheap plugs is often uncalibrated out of the box, calibrate it in the Tasmota web UI if needed
