How it connects

Franzl uses the Home Assistant custom integration solaredge_modbus_multi (installable via HACS). If your device is set up there, Franzl finds it automatically.

Setup

Connected locally via Modbus TCP (port 1502) through the HACS integration solaredge-modbus-multi: it reads out solar and battery values as well as up to three meters, and controls battery mode, charge/discharge limits, and the feed-in limit.

Requirements

Enable Modbus TCP on the inverter (on units without a display, via the inverter's own Wi-Fi at http://172.16.0.1 → Site Communication; the first connection must be established within 2 minutes of enabling it)
Enable "Storage Controls" in the integration
Only one Modbus TCP connection can exist at a time; don't use it in parallel with other software (e.g. evcc)
