How it connects
Franzl connects to the device directly and locally: via its IP address in your home network, no cloud detour.
Setup
The HPSU compact uses the RoCon controller with CAN bus, for which no official Home Assistant integration exists. It's connected via a community solution: an additional board reads out the hot-water and room-temperature setpoints and exposes them as entities in Home Assistant.
Requirements
- Additional hardware required: an ESP32 with a CAN bus transceiver, connected to the CAN bus port (J13) of the Rotex controller, flashed with the matching community firmware
