How it connects
Franzl uses the Home Assistant custom integration ocpp (installable via HACS). If your device is set up there, Franzl finds it automatically.
Setup
Gen-2 models only: connection via Home Assistant's OCPP backend (integration ocpp). The wallbox registers as an OCPP 1.6J client, and control runs through its entities. Gen-1 models (ID. Charger Connect/Pro, Škoda iV, Cupra, Audi Wallbox plus) only support EEBus and are not supported here.
Prerequisites
- OCPP Security Profile 2 (wss:// + HTTP Basic Auth) configured in the HA OCPP backend, otherwise the wallbox won't connect
- Only ONE OCPP backend active at a time on the wallbox: either the Elli cloud or Home Assistant
- Disable PV surplus charging on the wallbox itself (otherwise you get double control)
- Leave the wallbox's internal Modbus server disabled (it otherwise takes priority over OCPP)
- Keep the firmware up to date before commissioning
