This device is integrated read-only: Franzl shows its measurements and includes them in the optimization, but does not actively control it.
How it connects
Franzl uses the Home Assistant custom integration byd_battery_box (installable via HACS). If your device is set up there, Franzl finds it automatically.
Setup
The BYD Battery-Box has no control interface of its own. Charging/discharging always runs through the connected hybrid inverter. First set up the inverter (Fronius GEN24 Hybrid, SMA Tripower X, Kostal Plenticore, or GoodWe ET/EH) as a profile; the BYD battery is controlled through it. Optionally, a HACS integration additionally reads cell diagnostic data directly from the battery control unit (BCU) via Modbus.
Prerequisites
- One of the supported hybrid inverters already set up (Fronius GEN24 Hybrid, SMA Tripower X, Kostal Plenticore, GoodWe ET/EH)
- Battery and inverter compatibility checked against the BYD compatibility list
What you enter
- IP address of the BCU: optional, only for cell diagnostic data (voltages, temperatures)
Default:
192.168.16.254, port502Note: if the BYD app "Be Connect" is running in parallel, use only one of the two at a time
