How it connects
Franzl uses the Home Assistant custom integration tuya_local (installable via HACS). If your device is set up there, Franzl finds it automatically.
Setup
This pool heat pump connects locally through the HACS integration tuya_local. Important: only the Tuya generation can be integrated. The FI series (~2019–21, e.g. FI 45) and Inverter Plus with the clip-on "WiFi box", paired via the Smart Life app. The newer "Inverter Connect" (BWT Inverter app) and "FI Connect" (Best Water Home app) generations use BWT's own cloud and are not supported.
Requirements
- Generation check: does the type plate/QR code point to the Smart Life app? Then this profile applies. "BWT Inverter" or "Best Water Home" → cannot be integrated
- Extract the local key via a Tuya IoT developer account (the key changes on every re-pairing)
- Only one local connection at a time: the Smart Life app must not be open on your home network in parallel
- The device reports no power/energy values, so add a metering plug or meter in front of it for surplus optimization
